All About Steve Garrett

Steve Garrett was born and raised in Southern California. He grew up in Temple City, graduated from Temple City High School. Studied at Pasadena City College and the University of Colorado.

He served in the United States Air Force, including 1 year in Vietnam.
Steve Garrett was employed by Hollister-Stier Laboratories from 1969-1972 as a Professional Services Representative. A job description that included part biologist, part salesman, and part errand boy.
Steve Garrett was associated with The Mission Viejo Company as a real estate salesman for eight months in 1972. Having interviewed with Merrill Lynch Steve took a stint in real estate to establish that he could sell something. Steve Garrett joined Merrill Lynch in December of 1972 as an account executive trainee. He successfully served as an account executive / financial consultant in the Pasadena, Los Angeles, and San Marino offices from 1973 through 1990. In the early years of those days, Steve specialized in listed options. Steve was the Resident Manager in the San Marino, California office from 1983 to 1987. During his tenure as a team leader, branch office manager Steve developed a reputation for training and nurturing new entrants in the business.
Steve established Steve Garrett and Associates in 1990. Steve Garrett and Associates qualified as is a Registered Investment Advisor in 1991. Steve Garrett and Associates changed its status to Steve Garrett and Associates, Inc., a Corporate Registered Investment Advisor on January 1, 2003.  Steve Garrett and Associates affiliated as a branch office of LPL Financial in 1993. Steve Garrett and Associates, Inc. invests and manages money for individuals and small corporate retirement plans.
Steve Garrett has served as a litigation consultant and expert witness on numerous occasions on the topics of suitability, know your customer, and failure to supervise.
A 50-year volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, Steve served in numerous capacities from Scoutmaster to Vice-Chairman of the San Gabriel Valley Council. In 1983, he was honored by the Council as a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Currently, he is consulting with Scouting leadership on the topic of facility utilization and program development.
Steve is a founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Guided Discoveries, a public benefit, 501(c)3, Corporation which operates Catalina Island Marine Institute on Catalina Island and AstroCamp in Idyllwild, California. In 1991, Steve served as the Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Elliott-Pope Preparatory School, eventually merging with Guided Discoveries.
Steve has authored and published 3 books. Leadership Strategies, The Bushey Family Before Coming to America and How Litigators Create Wealth.
